10 pro tips for makeup like Kim Kardashian

Famous make-up artist Mario Dedivanovic revealed his secrets after a makeup session with the queen of contouring Kim Kardashian.

The expression "facelift" makes sense when a makeup session requires four hours of work. This is the time it took the makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic to make "Kim Kardashian awakening", the Kim Kardashian red carpet that leaves nothing to chance, and especially not his make up. Mario shared his best tips with Harper's Bazaar magazine and here's what we picked:

1- Makeup first, then hairstyle

The reason for this first basic rule is purely practical: to prevent the hairstyle from interfering during makeup.

2- Prefer the moisturizer to a makeup base

All the makeup artists would surely not agree, but Mario Dedivanovic does not use a "base" - supposed to protect the skin of the make-up and especially to fix it permanently -, "I do not want a barrier between the skin and the makeup" he explains.

3- Apply foundation anywhere

On the face and the neck obviously, but also and we think less, on the eyelids, the ears, the bust, and even the arms and the legs if the dress imposes it. Before a red carpet, Mario would not forget a toe at risk that it appears "red" in the photo.

4- Powdering his fingers

For Mario, this is the best way to not wreck his job once the complexion is done.

5- Shade subtly but surely his eyebrows

It's probably Mario's specialty that spent a lot of time on Kim's eyebrows. His secret? To apply has traced the corners without exaggerating them at the risk of appearing too hard.

6- Apply creamy textures before powdery textures

Again, the reason is rather obvious: the powders appear much more pigmented and intense when they are applied on a creamy textures. This time, the base is de rigueur before applying eyeshadow.

7- Triple its eyeliner layer

Start by drawing a base with a pencil Khôl, then work with a liquid liner and finally finish with a waterproof cream of the same color. Why so much effort? "Because it gives a very nice definition and a really neat result," says Mario.

8- Dark circles are being attacked

It's Kim's pet peeve: "I'm half Armenian and my dark circles are a genetic inheritance." But Dedivanovic is known for his very effective dark circles makeup technique called "the sandbagging effect" which makes the darkest halos disappear completely. To do this, he applies a thick layer of concealer under the eyes in the form of inverted triangle (the tip down) and the brush strokes to the nose and to the temples before ending in a generous powder.

9- We work on her eyelashes

The secret of Kim's endless eyelashes is named after L'Oreal Paris Voluminous Original Mascara. After applying a first coat on the eyelashes, Mario applies false eyelashes by hand and one by one putting the longest at the corners of the eyes. Once they are dry, we put a layer of mascara on the set.

10- Contourer, illuminate, blusher

The art of contouring is now well known if we believe the thousands of tutorials posted on the web; and it's no longer a secret that Kim is a fan of this makeup technique. Mario recalls the general idea: one sculpts the face with games of shadows and lights. The big work on Kim's face is at the nose which appears much thinner after four hours of work. Fortunately at the same time. Anyway, with your brushes!
